Kakar criticises PSF over CW Games selection
KARACHI: Balochistan Squash Association (BSA) has criticised Pakistan Squash Federation (PSF) for ignoring it in the selection of the team for Commonwealth Games.
Chairman BSA Sher Ali Kakar while talking to ‘The News’ said that they were not happy with the PSF’s treatment. “PSF is running matters high handedly. It did not bother to consult the provincial squash association with regard to the selection of the team for the Games,” said Kakar.
He added that PSF neglected promising players from Balochistan in the selection. “Shahjahan Khan lives and plays in the US but he is from Balochistan so he should have been selected by the PSF,” said Kakar.
He said Shahjahan had been selected by PSF in the past for different events, so it was beyond understanding why he was not considered this time.Shahjahan is the son of former World No 2 Zarak Jahan Khan. “Zarak called me and strongly protested over this maltreatment to Shahjahan Khan by PSF. Zarak was surprised how things are handled at PSF,” said Kakar.
He said the way PSF was handling these things was damaging squash. “PSF does not consider its affiliated units and the players are picked on personal choices,” said Kakar. He added that PSF’s decision of selecting the team for CW Games would be challenged in court. “I will challenge this decision of PSF by moving the court against it. It is sad to notice that now litigation is the only solution,” said Kakar.
