People can differentiate between ideologues, turncoats: Mian Iftikhar
NOWSHERA: Awami National Party (ANP) central General Secretary Mian Iftikhar Hussain said on Sunday that the people were joining the nationalist party despite the fact that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) was ruling the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
“It shows the trust of the people in the ANP leadership,” he said while addressing a gathering in Akbarpura Union Council where several people announced joining the ANP.
He said the people knew as to who had raised voice for the rights of the Pakhtuns. “The people are mature. They can differentiate between ideologues and turncoats, who change loyalties in search of greener pastures,” he added.
Mian Iftikhar said the ANP had rendered great sacrifices for the restoration of peace in the province, adding that the Chinese ambassador to Pakistan had acknowledged the services of his party to help bring peace in KP.
He said the PTI-led coalition government was undertaking the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project to get kickbacks and commissions. “The design of BRT was changed several times as the work was started on the incomplete design. It speaks volumes about incompetence of the PTI rulers,” he said.
He ridiculed Pervez Khattak, who had claimed after being sworn in as the chief minister after PTI’s win in the 2013 general election that his party had framed policies beforehand and it would start implement its so-called reform agenda after forming the government.
