PESHAWAR: The RMI International Open Golf Championship, carrying record prize money of Rs2.5 million, would be played here at the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) Golf Course from February 23-25.
This was stated by international golfer Major Arshad Mehmood on Friday. Arshad, who is also the tournament director and executive member of the Pakistan Golf Federation (PGF), said that the international golfers would feature in the 3rd edition of the championship.
He said the international golfers Mohammad Munir, Hamza Amin (Austria), Pakistan’s top golfers Shabbir Iqbal, Taimur Naseer and Naeem Khan would be among the 250 plus male and female players participating in the mega event.
The championship consisted of five categories including professional over 9 and below, senior professionals, junior professionals, amateur HCP 12 below, ladies, boys’ under-15 and under-17, veterans and senior amateurs.He said besides cash prizes, a 1000CC car and other attractive trophies will be awarded to the top players.“We have received 15 entries for the ladies event. Top women golfers from across the country will participate in the championship,” he added.
