KMU to implement HEC-approved curriculum
PESHAWAR: The Khyber Medical University (KMU) has announced to implement the Higher Education Commission (HEC)-approved public health curriculum in all its constituent and affiliated institutes throughout the province.
This announcement was made during a two-day consultative workshop. The KMU-IPH&SS in joint collaboration with Sarhad Institute of Health Sciences (SIHS) had organised it to review public health curriculum in line with HEC revised / approved curriculum prepared by HEC National Curriculum Review Committee under the chairmanship of Dr Saadullah Afridi, Dean and Director SIHS, Sarhad University, Peshawar.
Addressing the inaugural session, KMU Vice-Chancellor Dr Arshad Javed said that KMU being the sole public sector medical university in the province had the mandate to regulate and assess the constituent and affiliated health related educational institutions.
He said review and implementation of all courses in line with the HEC guidelines and approved curriculum was obligation of KMU. “We are committed to aligning our public health syllabus in accordance with the needs of international standards,” he added.
Dr Arshad Javed explained that reviews and implementation of modern curriculum of the public health was the need of the hour and it would ensure uniformity among public health institutions and prove the way for standardisation and better public health services.
