Born to be wild?
TV is the best medium to reach a large audience and create awareness regarding different issues. One area where public service announcements are needed on an urgent basis is traffic regulations. The traffic regulation authorities must spread awareness messages over the airwaves to educate people to drive carefully on roads. In our country, reckless driving has led to many fatal accidents. Some drivers change lanes or make a turn without checking to see if there is a vehicle in the lane next to them.
Other drivers keep headlights on high beam even in a traffic jam, whereas some drivers keep blowing horn. The worst drivers are the ones that keep a short gap between their vehicle and the car in front of them. Almost every day one sees cars that have been hit by a car driving too closely. It is hoped that Pemra and TV channels will work together to broadcast public service announcements which would educate people regarding road safety.
