LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif on Monday promised to give new standards of development without making any compromise on quality in projects, adding that transparency was being ensured through monitoring of development projects at every level.
Addressing a meeting which reviewed the progress made on annual development programme, the chief minister issued directions for early completion of projects. The meeting was informed that first phase of constructing teaching hospitals in four districts was being completed followed by setting up medical colleges in the second phase.
Shahbaz said transparency, quality and development of the Punjab government had been acknowledged nationally as well as internationally. Separately, the chief minister said the PML-N government had won the people’s hearts by fulfilling the promises made with them.
Talking to MNA Asad-ur-Rehman MNA and MPA Abdul Rauf, he said The Punjab government had introduced and innovative development strategy in education, healthcare, agriculture and other sectors to help improve the quality of life. Also on Monday, Shahbaz Sharif took notice of a news-item aired in a section of the media about extracting bone marrow from girls in Hafizabad.
He ordered the DPO to investigate the matter and sought a report him. He ordered strict action against the criminals involved and provision of best treatment facilities to the affected girls. The chief minister, meanwhile, expressed a deep sense of sorrow and grief over the loss of precious human lives in a road accident near Hyderabad.
On the other hand, Shahbaz congratulated PML-N candidate Iqbal Shah for his victory in NA-154, Lodhran by-election, saying the results proved that people have complete faith in the leadership and policies of PML-N.
He said honesty and politics of service had once again remained victorious, adding that the elements involved in the politics of agitation, chaos and sit-in were defeated. “By rejecting the elements involved in the negative politics, the people have given a clear message that there is no room for the politics of chaos.”
