Parking facility demanded at Commercial Market

Islamabad: A glaring disparity between the number of vehicles and the number of parking facilities in Commercial Market (Satellite Town) has become a matter of grave concern for visitors who have demanded construction of parking plazas to help resolve the parking issue in this one of the busiest commercial hubs of the city.

Yasir Malik, a visitor, said though the parking of vehicles is relatively more controlled on the Murree Road, the traffic at Commercial Market is usually unbalanced due to unregulated parking in the area.

He said in order to properly control the traffic flow in the market, the authorities need several parking plazas to facilitate the visitors who also come from Islamabad and other areas. It is generally seen that the primary cause of traffic congestion in Commercial Market is result of lack of adequate parking space and resultantly wrongly parked cars on the roads.

Ilyas khan, a shopkeeper, said the lack of parking space in the market is causing negative impacts on their businesses because the visitors now avoid coming to this place for this obvious reason.

“The local administration should launch a project to build parking plazas in Commercial Market that would not only resolve the parking issue but also help it earn a handsome amount of money,” he said.
