LAHORE: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf senior leader Abdul Aleem Khan appeared before National Accountability Bureau (NAB) here Monday and recorded his statement regarding his offshore company HEXAM.According to NAB sources, Aleem Khan appeared before the Bureau’s investigators and recorded his statement and also submitted documents regarding establishing offshore company.
After visiting NAB office, Abdul Aleem Khan while talking to media said that his company was established in 2006 and since then it is declared with FBR and other departments while every year he also declared it in annual tax returns.
The PTI leader also expressed his surprise that his company was not included in the list of 450 companies appeared in the Panama Papers and subsequently directed to be investigated by NAB chairman.
He told that on this issue he already held three press conferences and all the details were shared with media. He said that for the last 12 years everything is declared and very much open.
He said that he questioned NAB authorities that since this detail is already available with FBR then why they were in a hurry to summon him. Abdul Aleem Khan said that as a responsible citizen and politician it is his moral duty to cooperate with every institution and department and in future he would again be available for any sort of information.
The Panama Papers had revealed in 2016 the details about Pakistani politicians, businessmen, armed forces officials, bureaucrats, etc who have allegedly established offshore companies. Supreme Court last year disqualified former PM Nawaz Sharif from holding the office in Panama Papers case. On the other hand, Pakistan Muslim League-Q senior leader Moonis Elahi would appear before the NAB on Tuesday (today). NAB has summoned Moonis Elahi, son of former chief minister Punjab Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi, to record his statement regarding establishing offshore company.
