PESHAWAR: Provincial president of the Awami National Party (ANP) Ameer Haider Hoti said on Sunday his party would establish university in every district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and ensure funding for education and health if it was voted into power in the next general election.

Speaking at the death anniversary of Abdul Ghaffar Khan and Abdul Wali Khan at the Zantara Town here, Haider Hoti thanked the workers for participating in such a huge number in the death anniversaries of their party leaders.

He said this gathering had proved the party’s opponents wrong who had been claiming that they had wiped out ANP from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Haider Hoti said today’s gathering was organised to pay tributes to Fakhr-e-Afghan Bacha Khan and Rehbar-e-Tehreek Abdul Wali Khan and their thought and ideology.

He said the role of Bacha Khan and Abdul Wali Khan in the independence movement and awakening Pakhtuns would be remembered for ever. “Today we have gathered to tell the world that the problems being faced by Pakistan and the rest of the world can be resolved in following Bacha Khan’s ideology,” he remarked.

No other ideology can address the problem of terrorism in the region, he added. He claimed that today’s gathering had proved that ANP was the only representative party of Pakhtuns.

He said Chief Minister Pervez Khattak was claiming that he had eliminated the ANP in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. “Pervez Khattak himself is running on CNG engine, how he can eliminate ANP,’’Hoti ridiculed.

He said that Pervez Khattak and his captain had been engaged in the politics for the Takht-e-Islamabad and Takht-e-Lahore for four years.

He said the ANP would ensure that the next NFC Award was announced when they form the next government. “The development budget was Rs208 billion which has been now reduced to Rs128 billion by the incumbent government,” he added.

“We would ensure brining foreign investment and would not launch any project on loans. We would bring the profit of electricity to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa,” he added.

The ANP leader said that five hydro projects Ranila-Kohistan, Machai, Daral Khwar, Lawi and Mataltan were his party’s initiatives. He hoped these would earn billions of rupees profit for the province.

He maintained that these projects were the ANP’s not theirs. He added that the ANP established 10 universities in five years and would establish universities in all the districts.

Haider Hoti announced that interest-free loans for jobless youth would be provided and information technology would be the focus of their next government.

The ANP leader said that thousands of acres of land would be made cultivable across the province. He said additional funds for education and health would be ensured while the profit of gas and oil would be raised and that they would construct the first refinery.

He said implementation of 18th Amendment and merger of Federally Administered Tribal Areas with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa would be ensured. Other leaders who spoke on the occasion were Ghulam Ahmad Bilour, Mian Iftikhar Hussain and Aimal Wali Khan. Sardar Hussain Babak was the stage secretary.
