Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Karachi chief Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman has demanded of the federal government and finance ministry to ensure the implementation of the Employees’ Old-Age Benefits Institution’s pension scale for retired employees.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, Hafiz Naeem expressed concern over non-implementation of the EOBI’s pension scale, which was fixed by the federal government at Rs6,000per month in the Budget-2014.
He reiterated that the federal government, in the 2013 budget, had increased the pension scale from Rs3,600 to Rs5,000 and in the 2014 budget it was further increased to Rs6,000 per month.
He regretted that implementation on EOBI’s pension scale was still lacking despite the passage of two years and that retired government employees were still getting a monthly pension at the rate of Rs3,600 per month.
