This refers to the article ‘Indus Waters Treaty: don’t lose the game’ (Jan 25), by Ahmed Rafay Alam. The article highlights the Indus Water Treaty issue. As highlighted in the article, since 2016, especially post the Uri attacks, India has been trying to find excuses to get out of the treaty. It is no secret that the Indian prime minister, Narendra Modi is fast adjusting his tunes as per demands of the fast approaching election year and growing popularity of the Congress.
The Baglihar and Kishenganga cases highlighted from Pakistan’s side have also been riddled with controversies, but these two cases along with the rest of the largely illegal projects carried out by India in violation of the treaty must be pursued zealously by Pakistan. We must find the right people to counter India’s tactics in the International Court of Arbitration.
