Govt committed to take education to remote areas: Jhagra
BARA: Governor Iqbal Zafar Jhagra on Thursday said the promotion of education was must for ensuring development and prosperity of any society.
“The government is taking all possible measures to promote education in far-off areas,” he told a ceremony after laying foundation stone of Sir Sahibzada Abdul Qayyum Khan School and College at Dogra in Bara tehsil of Khyber Agency.
Member National Assembly (MNA) Nasir Khan Afridi, Senator Momin Khan Afridi, Fata Additional Chief Sectary Sikandar Qayyum, Political Agent Khalid Mehmood, Fata Director Education Hasham Khan Afridi, Mahsud Scouts Commandant Saeed Ahmad and a large number of tribal elders were present on the occasion.
He said the institution was affiliated with Lawrence College, a well-known educational institution in Ghora Gali in Murree. “The schools, hospitals, road, homes and business sectors had been destroyed in prolonged militancy in tribal areas,” he said, adding the promotion of education was government’s top priority.
The governor said the tribal people and security forces had rendered matchless sacrifices against the militants in a decade long militancy.
He also said the problems of displaced persons belonging to Kukikhel tribe would be solved soon. He assured the tribal people problems of Secretary Pul would be solved as soon as possible. “The institution will provide education on reasonable fees to the tribal children,” he assured, adding that the government has initiated steps to promote education and technical skill in the area.
Later, the governor distributed domicile certificates among students of the higher secondary schools.
The governor appreciated the efforts of the political administration in implementing the project and expressed the confidence that people of the area would be able in receiving quality education facilities at their doorsteps.
He also assured his support and cooperation for successful completion of the project as well as its future functioning. Also, the governor praised of social worker and industrialist Dauran Gul Afridi who donated 100 kanals land to the institution.
