Call to expedite CPEC projects

ISLAMABD: The officials from the partnering countries should play a proactive role to ensure early completion and execution of energy and transport infrastructure projects under the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), an official said on Tuesday.

“The development of special economic zones under (CPEC) has entered into an important phase and focused efforts are underway for successful industrial cooperation between the two countries,,” said Shoaib Ahmad Siddiqui, the secretary planning, development & reform (PD&R), in a meeting with Lijian Zhao, deputy chief of mission Chinese embassy at his office.

A statement said the meeting thoroughly reviewed the progressed on the CPEC initiatives and agreed to enhance engagements in the light of decisions taken in 7th JCC meeting.

Speaking on the occasion, Zhao said all-out efforts would be made to expedite early launch of projects for which agreements have already been signed and approved by the JCC on the CPEC.

The meeting held in ministry of planning, development & reforms, was also attended by Hassan Daud, acting project director CPEC, and officials from the Chinese embassy.
