India beat Pakistan to win Blind WC title

LAHORE: Defending champions India overpowered Pakistan in the final of 5th World Cup Cricket for Blind on Saturday to win the title.

Pakistan had put together a total of 308 runs for India to chase in United Arab Emirates (UAE) Ajman and India overhauled the score losing eight wickets winning the final by two wickets. India’s Sunil Ramesh scored a notable 93-run knock in India rout of Pakistan. It was India’s second title at the mega event as earlier they won World Cup, outclassing Pakistan at Cape Town, South Africa in December 2014.

Earlier, Pakistan rode on Badar Munir’s fifty to give India a competitive target of 308 in the final of the fifth edition of Blind Cricket World Cup. Riyasat Khan and skipper Nisar Ali scored 48 and 47 runs respectively to contribute to Pakistan’s huge total after they were asked to bat first by India. Defending champions India also defeated Pakistan by a margin of seven wickets in their group stage match on January 13. Pakistan have on Saturday set a target of 309 runs for India in the final of the World Cup. Pakistan were put into bat by India and the Green Shirts managed to score 308 runs in their limited quota of 40 overs. Badar Munir remained the top scorer with 57 runs, followed by Riasat Khan (48) and skipper Nisar Ali (47). India’s chase is underway.
