PHC seals quack centres

LAHORE: Punjab Healthcare Commission (PHC) shut down 34 quacks centres during the current week and initiated further proceedings against them.

Reportedly, 25 quacks were running their centres as general practitioner and jirrah, while nine were fake dentists.

The general quacks included; Munir Clinic, Mughal Medical Store, Maqsood Ali Clinic, Tariq Clinic, Minhaj Clinic, Chaudhary Health Clinic, Shahzad Clinic, Nawaz Clinic, National Medical Store, Ghauri Clinic, Haider Medical Store and Clinic, Muhammad Yasin Clinic, Abdul Rauf Clinic, Jan Muhammad Clinic, Azeem Clinic and Zulfiqar Clinic.

Whereas fake dentists included; Awais Dental Clinic, Saeed Dental Clinic, Shaukat Dental Clinic & Lab, Decent Dental Clinic, Shahid Dental Surgery, Zahid Dental Clinic, Ali Dental Clinic, Sheraz Ijaz Dental Clinic and Irfan Dental Clinic.

It is pertinent to mention here that since July 2015, the Punjab Healthcare Commission has sealed more than 7,000 quacks centres and imposed fine of about Rs53.6 million.

A spokesperson for PHC said the Commission was continuing its anti-quackery campaign across the province and its teams were visiting all districts and tehsils to eliminate quackery.

The PHC has also appealed to the masses that they should visit PHC registered and licensed medical practitioners only. He said public can inform PHC about quacks on the toll-free helpline 0800 00742 of PHC.
