Aspiring students attend Jang’s Education Expo

Islamabad: Bringing the leading foreign educational institutions under one roof, the International Education Expo 2018 organised by the Jang Media Group at a local hotel on Thursday attracted scores of youths seeking to learn about the best academic and career opportunities available to them abroad.

According to the organisers, the one-day event gave youths, especially students, a good opportunity to interact with the representatives of 25 US, British, Canada, Australian, Egyptian and Turkish universities for getting information about their respective academic programmes, co-curricular activities, fee structure, scholarships and job prospects.They declared the expo a success saying it attracted the targeted people in large numbers and thus, helping stall holders achieve objectives by and large.

Among stall holders were the University of East Anglia, University of Huddersfield, AASTMT, Eastern Mediterranean University, SEGi College, the University of New Castle Australia, Learning Bytes, University of Debrecen, Memorial University, Asia Pacific University, European University of Lefke, University of Sussex, Loughborough University, University of Wolverhampton, Global University Systems, University of the West of Scotland, Middlesex University, Sheffield Hallam University, University of Hertfordshire, INTO, Queen Mary University, STEPS and University of Warwick.

Imran Bhatti of the Jang Media Group marketing team said the one-day event was planned to provide local students with information about the programmes of foreign colleges and universities on their doorstep.

“We’ve been holding education expos for the last 10 years involving mostly local colleges and universities. However, this time around, we with the help of the Falcon Education and Consultancy Services (Private) Limited have focussed on the world’s top educational institutions to the benefit of local youths eyeing academic courses abroad,” he told ‘The News’.

The Jang Media Group’s representative said the universities attending the expo offered quality programmes from higher education to bachelor to foundation level at very low fee compared with the one charged by the local educational institutions.

He said another such expo would be organised later this year with the plans to rope in 50 foreign educational institutions.

“The expo held first in Karachi, then Lahore and Faisalabad and now Islamabad has been a roaring success. We’ve got tremendous response from the target audience to the pleasure of the stall holders,” he said.

The visitors appreciated the holding of the expo and said they had the firsthand information about foreign academic programmes. Student Sehrish Moin said the event was very helpful for those planning to go abroad for quality higher studies as it provided answers to their all questions from the intended courses’ contents to fee to worldwide acceptance.

Another visitor, Zarqa Sanam, declared the expo a well-organised event and said she had shown up to explore ways to execute her plans to study abroad and found interaction with the representatives of foreign universities to be very helpful.

The stall holders also expressed happiness with participation in the event. Zaigham Khan of the Eastern Mediterranean University, Northern Cyprus, praised organisers for holding a good event and said he got a good response from visitors.

He said his university, which was ranked among the world’s top educational institutions, offered scholarships to successful candidates in large numbers and charged very low fee at the same time to the advantage of students.

University of Debrecen, Hungary, representative Asghar Aftab Khan said his varsity, ranked among the world’s leading educational institutions, was approached by the youths in engineering, business and computer sciences programmes. He said the response of the visitors was good.

Also in attendance was career counsellor Syed Abidi of the Falcon Education and Consultancy Services (Private) Limited, who guided visitors on the foreign academic and job opportunities and how to go about them.   He said every country was spending a lot of money on research in different fields and so Pakistani students should go for research-related disciplines to pursue good careers.
