Two official weapons were used in the fatal January 13 attack by policemen on a youth, Intizar Ahmed, in the Defence Housing Authority (DHA) area, Geo News reported on Thursday while quoting investigation officers.

As per the forensic tests of the eight weapons handed over to the investigation department, only two of the guns were fired at the crime scene. Of the 18 shells found at the crime scene, 12 had been fired from one pistol and six more from the other weapon, said the investigation officer. The two pistols were in the possession of police personnel Bilal and Daniyal, who used the weapons to open fire on the murdered youth, sources told Geo News.

The other six weapons were private and licensed weapons, the sources added. Nine cops were named in the incident, of which, eight are in police custody while one – Inspector Tariq Raheem – has been granted bail. Raheem’s pistol has reportedly not been submitted to the investigator, the sources said.

‘Killed in cold blood’

Speaking to The News on Tuesday, Intizar's father, Ishtiaq Ahmed, had said that the CCTV footage of the January 13 incident showed that his son was killed in cold blood.

The father, Ishtiaq Ahmed, said he had watched the CCTV footage of the incident on Monday night that showed Intizar’s car stopping after two plain-clothes men on a motorbike intercepted his vehicle.

He said the men searched the car thoroughly, but when a black car arrived on the scene and an unidentified man in the vehicle signalled to the plain-clothes men, they got on their motorbike and rode away.

“After that, Intizar reversed his car, but two plain-clothes men on another motorbike arrived on the scene and got off the two-wheeler. One fired at Intizar from the right side of the car while the other went to the left side and started aerial firing.”

ACLC SSP’s guards

The News had learnt that there was no picketing in the locality where the January 13 incident took place and that the Anti-Car Lifting Cell (ACLC) officials booked for Intizar’s murder were deployed for ACLC SSP Muqaddas Haider’s security.

NCHR seeks report

The National Commission for Human Rights has taken notice of a story (‘Murder lands six ACLC officials in police custody) published in The News regarding the killing of Intizar Ahmed, and sought a report from Sindh IGP AD Khowaja.

In a statement, it has said it is deeply perturbed over the gruesome murder of the boy in DHA Phase-VII on the night of January 14.
