Pak enemy is our enemy, not in favour of Baloch separatists: US
KARACHI: The US Department of State’s Bureau of South and Central Asian Affairs Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary, Ambassador Alice Wells, has said that room for negotiations and spot in the Kabul government were available for the Afghan Taliban. However, she added that no agreements would be made using guns. Wells said that Pakistan’s enemy was their enemy. “We will also fight the terrorists who are standing against Pakistan. We are not in favour of Baloch separatists,” she said.
Talking to senior journalist and anchorperson of Geo News Hamid Mir in Islamabad, the US diplomat said the US did not support the separatists in Balochistan. Wells said the US wanted that the continuing presence of the Haqqani network and other terrorist groups within Pakistan’s territory must be adequately addressed.
She said that they did not believe in the policy of good terrorists and bad terrorists. On the other hand, Wells acknowledged Pakistan’s great sacrifices in the war against terror. The diplomat said that the US was not supporting Daesh and it was just a baseless accusation. Wells said: “It is inaccurate to say that the Taliban have occupied 43 per cent of Afghanistan’s territory; they have occupied only 12 per cent territory of Afghanistan. According to the Asia Foundation’s survey, only 5 per cent population of Afghanistan supports Taliban.”
