Youngsters need to learn a lot: Kamran
KARACHI: Out of favour wicket-keeper batsman Kamran Akmal has said that youngsters could not do anything without the presence of seniors in the team.
Talking to ‘The News’, he said that the youngsters part of the team right now are yet to learn a lot.Kamran said he was really disappointed to watch the performance of the team in New Zealand.
He said New Zealand’s conditions were tough for a subcontinent team but still the team should have done better. “It didn’t look like the team that played in the Champions Trophy,” he stated.
He said the youngsters’ performance at the Champions Trophy was not enough to prove that they were the best. “No doubt, our young guns put up a dominant show in the Champions Trophy but many things went in our favour that day,” he said.
He said he hoped that the team would not disappoint in the T20 series. “We have always been strong in T20. The results might change in that series,” Kamran said.He said that he was trying his best to convince the selectors with his bat and hoped that he would get a chance in near future.
He added that he had no issues with the selectors or anyone in the board. “Whenever the selectors need me, I will be there to represent my country,” he said.About his performance in the Departmental Cup, he said that he failed to do well in the final, but he was satisfied with his overall performance.

About WAPDA’s loss in the final, he said that they should have scored 30-40 runs more to give a defendable total to their bowlers. “We were not up to the mark with our batting,” he said.Kamran applauded the way UBL had played throughout the tournament and said they deserved the title. He welcomed the addition of Multan Sultans in the PSL and said he was excited for the third edition.
