PESHAWAR: Minister of ?Public Health Shah Farman Khan has said the government has put 530 tubewells on solar energy in the province and decided that all the new water supply schemes would be operated by solar system to ensure clean drinking water to the people.
Speaking at an event in Karak on Monday, the minister said out of these 530 tubewells, ?306 were located in the water-scarcity southern region of the province.The minister said the government had proposed 1200 old tubewells being operated through electricity to be replaced by the solar technology, saying out of these 1200 tubewells, 802 were located in the southern districts of the province. He said besides replacing the old tubewells with solar technology, 445 new tubewells had been completed in different parts of the province and all were operated by the solar system.
The minister said besides these 445 new solar schemes, 449 would be completed soon and the number of solartube wells completed in four years would reach 954 in the province,” Shah Farman said.
