This is to draw the attention of the authorities to the condition of Rawalpindi’s parks that were renovated a couple of years back. It is nice to see that the relevant department has renovated the parks so that residents can spend some time with their families and relax for a bit. However, what is the point of the renovation when the parks are kept closed during morning? Many people who have developed the healthy habit of having a morning walk have no access to the parks. Walk and exercise in the morning is suggested by a majority of doctors and other healthcare professionals. The policy of the local authorities of keeping parks close at the time when such activities are more beneficial should be altered.
Even during holidays, children cannot spend quality time at parks. The relevant department must look into the matter and make sure that parks can be accessed by residents in the morning as well. Parks are created so that children can do some recreational activities and play different outdoor games. Parks are created so that people can come out of their homes and breathe the fresh air. I had been going to the park in the morning for many years, but now due to the illogical policies of the local administration I am unable to have a morning walk in a peaceful environment. There is no use of the renovation when a health lover cannot enter the park. The local administration must change the opening hours of the park so that our society can become healthier and stronger.
