TOBA TEK SINGH: Scores of farmers of a dozen of Pirmahal and Toba tehsils villages located on the bank of Trimmu-Sidhnai Link Canal have demanded brick-lining of the canal to save their wheat crops from destruction.
They demanded this during their meeting with MNA Ch Asadur Rehman here on Saturday. The farmers, led by Ch Shafqat Rasool and Ch Afzaal Tahir, told that their crops had been ruined due to water logging as a result of excess water supply to the canal. They said that if water supply to the canal was not decreased, their wheat crops would be destroyed completely. The MNA assured them that he would talk to the Punjab chief minister on this issue. Later, the MNA visited the fields of Chak 778/GB, 698/GB, 697/39-GB, 694/36-GB, 703/45-GB and 702/44-GB, where he himself witnessed that water had ruined crops.
