LAHORE: Two patients were tested positive for seasonal influenza and eight have been suspected to have been suffering from seasonal influenza in Lahore.
Two patients – Qadeer, 57, and Majeeda Bibi, 39, were tested for seasonal influenza in a private hospital on Ferozepur Road, while eight suspected cases have been reported in the city including two each in Services Hospital and Sir Ganga Ram Hospital and one each in Shaikh Zayed Hospital, Gulab Devi Hospital, private hospital on Canal Road near Johar Town and a private hospital in Samanabad.
Meanwhile, Young Doctors Association (YDA) of Services Hospital criticised the Punjab government for inadequate arrangements in hospitals to prevent and treat patients of seasonal influenza. They informed that no sanitizers are available in emergency ward as sanitation and isolation play key role in controlling spread of influenza H1N1. “The staff of emergency is not vaccinated yet,” they complained and asked if they were waiting for massive spread of influenza.
