ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Central Information Secretary Dr Shireen Mazari Saturday reacted strongly to Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman’s tirade against her party, alleging him of always slave to power.
In a statement issued here, the PTI information secretary charged that JUI-F leader’s game would end with the elimination of money factor in the Senate election.
She charged that Maulana was afraid of 22nd Constitutional Amendment.
She went on to allege the morality of Maulana could not even stop him from joining a government formed after the 2013’s rigged general election.
PTI, she claimed, decided to resign on the basis of a principled stand on the electoral process, whereas Maulana’s politics revolved around pocketing chairmanship of the Kashmir Committee and having a single ministerial slot.
Online adds: Meanwhile, Dr Shireen Mazari demanded of the government to explain why the former Chief Justice of Pakistan, Justice Iftikhar Chaudhry, was receiving extra retirement benefits.
She expressed surprise at the revelation in the media that the government is picking up the tab for ex-CJ for fuel and maintenance costs of a bullet-proof car in addition to the normal entitlements he is getting as top judge of the country.
She stated that as a result, the government sent a repair bill of Rs3.3 million for the ex-CJ’s Mercedes Benz as well as a fuel bill for 4,689 litres of petrol.
Mazari said given the economic crunch being faced by Pakistan, it was shameful to see a retired CJ demand these extra freebies in addition to the substantive entitlements he was already receiving.
Was it for some special electoral services, he may have rendered in the 2013 May general elections, she asked.
