KARACHI: Pakistan disabled cricket team demolished Afghanistan by 109 runs to take a 1-0 lead in their two-match ODI series here at National Stadium on Thursday.
Arif Richard struck 70 runs off 72 balls with 11 fours to guide Pakistan to 276-7 in the allotted 40 overs.
Matloob Qureshi smashed a 56-ball 58 run knock with five fours, while Hasnain Alam belted a 26-ball 32 run inning with one six and three fours. Rao Javed made 28 off 50 deliveries with three fours.
Nabi Ullah Nabi was the pick of the bowlers with 2-43. Abdullah, Shafiq Shameem and Sheirin Akkakhail got one wicket each.
In response, Afghanistan were folded for 167 in 32.2.
Muhammad Ashraf made 48-ball 52 with five fours. Farid Mohmand made 37 from 51 deliveries with three fours.
Left-arm pacer Abdullah Ijaz got 3-35, while left-arm spinner Fayyaz Ahmed captured 3-47. Ameer Ahmed got 2-31.
The second and last show between the two nations will be staged at the same venue on Friday (today).
