Punjab int’l tennis complex opens today

By LAHORE: The state of art Punjab international tennis complex is going to be inaugurated on Tuesday. In this regard former Davis Cuppers Rashid Malik feels it would bolster the sports vision of Chief Minister Mian Shehbaz Sharif.
In an informal talk with The News, Malik and Khawaja Tayyab Iftikhar, also a former Davis Cupper, vowed to utlise their years of experience to prepare the future tennis players to carry the country’s flag high. The Punjab tennis complex will be inaugurated by Provincial Sports Minister Jahangir Khanzada on Tuesday.
Along with the complex a model academy par international standards will start operating on the guidelines of ITF. The complex would be the hub of tennis activity where junior tennis initiative introduced by Malik, who is also Punjab tennis secretary, will start functioning. Tayyab and Malik have been working as a team carrying the vision of CM Sports Talent hunt program since 2012 and had requested him for early completion of the complex.
They revealed: “We are the first to introduce the international practice of 10 & under Mini Tennis play format in schools from ages 4 to 10 years players. They also extended gratitude towards Rao Ahmad Iftikhar, chief patron PLTA, for his contribution in approval of this world class complex.
