MINGORA: Tension between the lower judiciary and bar in Swat district continued after the district and sessions judge (DSJ) cancelled the bail before arrest (BBA) of an advocate in a kidnapping case a few days back.
Speaking at a press conference here on Wednesday, District Bar Association President Muhammad Zahir and Peshawar High Court Bar Association, Mingora Bench President Fazal Ghafoor said the lawyers started protest campaign after DSJ rejected the BBA of a lawyer Arshad Iqbal. However, they insisted that cancellation of the BBA was not the cause of the protest but the judge’s attitude angered the legal fraternity.
Last week, one Mohammad Yusuf had lodged a case with the Rahimabad Police Station against Arshad Iqbal Advocate accusing him of kidnapped his daughter Mehreen. District and Sessions Judge Sharif had rejected the BBA of Arshad Iqbal in the kidnapping case and sent him behind bars. However, lawyers staged protest on the court premises and chanted slogans against the judge.
