NOWSHERA: Chief Minister Pervez Khattak said on Friday people would vote the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) to power again in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in the next general election as the provincial government had excelled in service delivery in health, education and other sectors.

He stated this while speaking at a public meeting at Dagai and inaugurating the work on a gas supply scheme in Katcha Garhi areas in the Nowshera district. Member National Assembly Dr Imran Khattak, District Nazim Liaqat Khattak, Raza Khan and others were also present on the occasion.

Several elders and notables, including Abdul Basit, Zakaullah, Falak Niaz, Shabbir Ahmad, Imran, Khan, Kamran, Khan, Asif Shah, Hamid Khan, and others announced joining the PTI. The chief minister welcomed the new entrants to the party. He said growing number of people were joining the PTI and that vividly showed the reforms introduced by the government in the last over four years were being acknowledged by the people.

Pervez Khattak accused the Awami National Party of destroying the government departments and institutions during its five years rule in the province. "The ANP-led coalition government indulged in loot and plunder. It never bothered to work for the welfare of the people," he said criticising the past rulers for all the ills.

The chief minister said his government had done a lot to provide relief to the people. He said the PTI government rehabilitated those departments and institutions which had been shattered during the ANP rule.

Pervez Khattak said his rivals had launched propaganda against the PTI government as they were upset by the service delivery during the last four years and the growing popularity graph of the PTI.

The chief minister said education was the backbone of development and that was why his government launched a number of reforms to improve the sector in the province. He said schools and colleges were being set up in the entire province and English teaching had been introduced in the state-run schools in a bid to put an end to class-based education system. "The first technical university of the country will be set up in Nowshera. We have established technical institutions as well," he elaborated.

The chief minister said his government tried hard to put in place transparent and merit-based governance in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. "We consider state resources as a sacred trust and have taken measures for ensuring their efficient and judicious use to the greater benefits of the masses," he went on to add. Pervez Khattak said the PTI government focused on legislation to improve the situation that we had inherited from our predecessors due to their mismanagement and flawed governance. Meanwhile, at another function, the chief minister inaugurated the work on a scheme to supply gas to Katcha Garhi.

Pervez Khattak said the Rs 8.3million gas supply scheme would have been launched much earlier but, he said, there was a ban for three years on fresh gas connections. "The restriction has been lifted now and that is why new gas schemes are being launched," he explained. Several join PTI: KP Minister for Excise and Taxation Mian Jamsheduddin Kakakhel and MNA Dr Imran Khattak said that the PTI-led provincial government had established the supremacy of merit and ended political interference in the government institutions. They were speaking at different gatherings arranged at Atlasabad, Zandon and Bagh Killay where a number of political workers quit respective parties and joined the PTI.
