Fata merger be resolved through democratic way: Fazl
DERA ISMAIL KHAN: JUI-F Chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman said that democratic course be pursued in the matter of merger of Fata. Haste and overstepping all constitutional provisions will not be considered wise step. But this process should be completed in a befitting manner.
If there is some support for merging Fata with KP on one side then there is more opposition against this plea in Fata. There is movement for creation of separate province of Fata and perpetuating old system, he said this while talking to media men on the eve of wedding ceremony of Dr Saad Rashid here on Monday. Instead of taking into consideration personal likes and dislikes the factor of better and bright future of tribes be made base on the matter of merger of Fata. Any such decision will earn dignity and respect. We will have to see first before reaching any conclusion that what the tribesmen want. And what is better in their interest, he added. The democratic way be adopted instead of coercion, he said adding that we support Fata supreme council decision on this count. We are thinking about future of the country, he said. He added that Fata is strategic issue than political matter. He said tribesmen are being frightened that US will launch drone attack therefore this issue be resolved. Any decision taken in haste under international pressure will not be correct, he warned.
