MoU signed to explore market-oriented research

PESHAWAR: The Pakistan Standards and Quality Control Authority (PSQCA) and the Directorate of Quality Enhancement, University of Peshawar, signed an agreement to promote need-based standardisation as well as quality control assurance of the educational programmes.

A formal agreement to this effect was signed by University of Peshawar Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Muhammad Asif and PSQCA Director General Muhammad Khalid Siddiq at the UoP.

Under the agreement, both the parties shall explore market-oriented research and develop projects and other activities in the area of common interests.

The organisations will also share their human and material resources including instrument services and facilities for the purpose.

To attain the set objectives, the PSQCA would give representation to University of Peshawar on Technical Committees of PSQCA. The University of Peshawar would give representation to experts from PSQCA on their advisory bodies.

Under the agreement, the University of Peshawar would create standardisation, quality and technology management wing in the university and would provide expertise to carry out studies to PSQCA.

Speaking on the occasion, UoP Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Muhammad Asif said attaining the desired quality assurance in the academic programmes was the priority of the varsity.

He stated that accreditation of the UoP labs would be initiated with the help of PSQCA under the agreement.

The university would take every possible step to connect local manufacturers with the graduating students to market research and polish their entrepreneurial skills, he added.

PSQCA Director Engr Khalid Siddiq said his organisation was working under the control of the Ministry of Science and Technology, adding that the coordination of manufacturers and consumers was made in order to bring standardisation of products.
