Dacoit killed in Faisalabad police encounter

FAISALABAD: A dacoit was killed in an encounter with People’s Colony police on Monday night.
Police received information that dacoit Shahid Butt of Mansoorabad and his accomplices were robbing people of cash and valuables on Canal Road. Following the information, police raided the area to arrest the dacoits. On seeing police, the dacoits opened fire on them. Police also retaliated. As a result, Shahid Butt was killed on the spot while his accomplices managed to escape. The killed dacoit was wanted by police in a number of murder, dacoity and other cases.
He had also killed two businessmen - Sheikh Abdur Rehman and Mian Faisal Ali – on resistance during dacoities. The dacoit - Shahid Butt – had escaped from the custody due to the alleged negligence of SI Investigating Officer Muhammad Ibrahim of Mansoorabad police station some months ago.
