26-year-old shot by muggers in Mauripur

A man was shot and injured by muggers on resistance in the Mauripur area early on Friday morning.

Officials said 26-year-old Rafaqat Yaqoob was shot once when he tried to resist a robbery bid by two suspects. The victim had been admitted to the Dr Ruth Pfau Civil Hospital Karachi for treatment.

Reports of muggings in the city have increased over recent weeks and two men had been shot and injured by robbers on Thursday. 40-year-old Nadeem Khan was shot for resisting a robbery bid near Zauq Biryani Centre in Landhi No. 6, while 35-year-old Muhammad Ali, son of Naik Muhammad, was shot and injured by muggers near Nasir Jump in Korangi No. 1.

Youth shot

A young man was injured in a gun attack in the city’s Old Sabzi Mandi area early on Friday. Officials said unidentified attackers shot 20-year-old Ahmed Sultan multiple times and fled. The victim had been shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for treatment.

Body found

An as yet unidentified man was found dead in the limits of the New Karachi Industrial Area police on Friday. Rescue officials said the victim seemed to be around 24 years old and his body was around four days old. The corpse bearing multiple stab wounds was found dumped in an empty plot in New Karachi No. 6. The body had been moved to the Edhi morgue.
