Woman, four daughters on way to Syria deported by Turkey

LAHORE: Turkey deported five Pakistani women after arresting them from Turkish-Syrian border as they were allegedly trying to enter Syria illegally in a bid to meet a family member affiliated with the Daesh fighters, The News has learnt. According to sources, Shahnaz Begum and her four daughters – Hafsa, Asma, Khansa and Zoha – resident of Kotli Ram Das, Sialkot had crossed the border illegally and reached Turkey via Iran. They were going to join their family head, Abdul Sattar, who was working for Daesh in Syria. The Turkish police deported the women through a flight from Sharjah G9-0551 on December 19 on an entry passport. When this scribe contacted FIA Deputy Director Mufakhir Adeel, he confirmed that the family had been deported and arrested at Sialkot airport by Immigration officials. The family was handed over to FIA Gujranwala for further investigation, he added. Adeel said during investigation, Shahnaz and her daughter revealed that Sattar had died during a heavy air strike in Syria by the US and they got the information after reaching Turkey with the help of militants. An FIR has been registered against the family under 17(1) EO 1979 but they are not arrested for having ties with militants. According to the FIA deputy director, no further action would be taken against the family because the crime was not proved.
