Man drowns while saving woman

OKARA: A man drowned while saving a woman, who had jumped to commit suicide in the Lower Bari Doab Canal on Saturday. Kalsoom Bibi, the wife of Saleem and a resident of Yasir Ghaffar Town, jumped into the canal to commit suicide after quarreling with her husband. In the meantime, two passersby, including Shahid, saw her and jumped into the canal to save her. However, Shahid drowned while saving the woman. Rescue 1122 staffers were trying to recover the body of Shahid till the filing of this report. Police have taken Kalsoom Bibi in custody.
