IG stresses refresher courses

LAHORE: Inspector General of Police, Punjab, Arif Nawaz has said that modern investigation and refresher courses should be launched to enhance the efficiency of the police force.

He said this while addressing a session at Central Police Office, Lahore. The issues relating to training and capacity-building of the force were discussed. The IG said that the new personnel of the force should be trained following the parameters of the developed countries and emphasis should be laid on moral and behavioural grooming so that they could win the hearts of citizens and reduce the distance between police and public.

Additional IG Training Tariq Masood Yaseen informed the participants that professional skills courses, including legal studies, character building and IT courses, had been included in the training progamme. In addition to it, the services of experts from different public sector organisations have also been hired, he added.

The IG said that the training of the force was the top priority of Punjab Police and all available resources would be utilised without any delay for the purpose. He said that the newly-recruited personnel should perform their duty with devotion and also play an active role in changing the traditional Thana culture.

He directed the additional IG Training to start short courses of firing practice and also prepare the personnel for new ways of investigation process by arranging new modules of investigation techniques. He said that more experts should be hired for stress counselling of the force.
