11 prisoners released
KOHAT: Eleven prisoners involved in petty crimes were released from the district prison here on Thursday.
Justice Qalandar Ali Khan of the Peshawar High Court issued the release orders of the prisoners during a visit to the prison.
He visited the prison and inspected the barracks. Senior Sessions Judge Muhammad Shoaib Khan was also present.
Justice Qalandar Ali Khan directed for construction of a separate barrack for women prisoners and issued directives for solution of problems being faced by the prisoners.
The jail superintendent informed the visiting judge that army had established an interment centre on 2/3 property of the prison and also managing its security. He said they were not allowed to keep any prisoners there. He added that Rs90 million were being spent on construction of new buildings in the prison which included a hospital, separate barracks for women and juvenile prisoners, a mosque and visiting room and others.
