Youth forum seeks world role in ending Kashmiris’ plight
Islamabad: Speakers at the International Kashmir Lobby Group (Youth Forum for Kashmir) urged the world bodies, international community and human rights activists worldwide to playing their role in bringing an end to their miseries and ensuring their birthright of self-determination.
The event was arranged in connection with the International Human Right’s day. The speakers maintained that observance of a day is not enough. There must be practical steps to ensure a peaceful and violence-free world for all human beings, regardless of their race and religion.
The International Kashmir Lobby Group (Youth Forum for Kashmir) hosted a large number of public policy students from the University of Kotli, Azad Jammu & Kashmir, along with senior reporters, editors and photographers on the occasion of World Human Rights Day here. Despite heavy rain, all the participants committed to the Kashmir cause ensured their participation in the event to raise their voices against the continuous human rights abuses in the Indian-Held Kashmir (IHK) at the hands of Indian army. For the first time, giant tech companies joined in the celebrations. YouTube, Google, Twitter and other tech companies produced special content on the occasion.
YFK lobby group from Pakistan joined the worldwide trend #HumanRightsDay. Professor Shagufta Ashraf, with her fellow colleagues from the Faculty of the University of Kotli, Azad Jammu & Kashmir, YFK lobbyists; Ms Shaista Safi, Zaman Bajwa and others shared their thoughts and experiences with the participants.
The senior reporters vowed to continue their support for Kashmir cause by highlighting the HR violations in Kashmir by Indian army in their respective newspapers. They also shared their experiences and hurdles while covering the vast topic of Kashmir. They explained the effectiveness of media as well as social media in highlighting Kashmir conflict in the current era of technology. Event concluded with the certificates of participation’s distribution. The YFK is a non-partisan, international non-governmental organisation, working for the peaceful resolution of Kashmir Conflict in accordance with United Nations Security Council (UNSC) Resolutions.
