Munni Begum, Tahir Khan enthrall audience at Ghazal Night

PESHAWAR: Famous ghazal singer, Munni Begum, and the only Pakhtun Urdu classic artiste, Tahir Khan, enthralled the audience at the ‘Ghazal Night’ organised for the families of entertainment-starved Peshawarites at the Peshawar Sports Complex.

The artistes received applause from the audience when they started singing famous ghazals ‘ek bar muskura do, jhom barabar jhom, awargi main had say guzar jana chahiaye’ damadam mast qalandar’ and others.

The families, including men, women and children appreciated the programme. They asked the relevant authorities to arrange such more events in future to provide recreational opportunities to the residents of once known the ‘City of flowers’.

Chief Secretary Muhammad Azam Khan was the chief guest. Secretary Sports, Tourism, Culture, Archaeology, Museums and Youth Affairs Muhammad Tariq, Additional Secretary Babar Khan and other officials besides a large number of audiences attended the event.

Hailing the holding of Ghazal Night, founder of Lok Virsa and noted literati, folklorist, social scientist and cultural expert Uxi Mufti said that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was a paradise on Earth and the tourists, both foreign and domestic, can enjoy here the serene spots and interaction with hospitable and friendly people of the province.

“Our famous truck art is fading away with the passage of time, although this art is very popular in the foreign lands, Uxi Mufti told the audience and called for the steps to revive the dying truck art in the country.

The literati said that it was so amazing and delightful that Ghazal Night was arranged in a very peaceful atmosphere and a pleasant weather.
