New Indian HC to Pakistan hopes for cementing ties
LAHORE: Newly-appointed Indian High Commissioner to Pakistan Ajay Bisaria reached Pakistan through the Wagah border on Tuesday.
While avoiding to comment on any controversial issues, Bisaria, in a brief interaction before entering Pakistan, told the media that he was going to Pakistan with the hope to further cement the relations, the Indian media reported.
"At this historic border, I am going to Pakistan with the hope that the future of our relations should be different from that of past," he said, adding that he would strive for strengthening the relations between the two nations and make an atmosphere of confidence.
Bisaria, a senior Indian diplomat, is the 25th high commissioner to Pakistan and takes over from the outgoing high commissioner Gautam Bambawale. He was previously India's envoy to Poland.
