PESHAWAR: Dozens of members of Difa-e-Pakistan Council staged a protest rally against US President Donald Trump’s announcement of recognizing Al-Quds as capital of Israel.
The DPC, a syndicate of religious groups, had given the call for the protest after Trump made a speech in which he announced the new US policy that recognized Al-Quds (Jerusalem) as the capital of Israel.
The protest procession led by DPC leaders Ghazi Inamullah, Hafiz Samiullah, Jamaatud Dawa representative Yawar Aftab, and Al-Muhammadia Students Peshawar president Rashid Iqbal started from Fawwara Chowk in Peshawar Saddar and moved to Peshawar Press Club where they recorded their protest against the US administration.
The participants were holding banners and flags inscribed with anti-US and anti-Israel slogans. They chanted slogans against President Trump and the Jewish lobby and torched the flags of US and Israel.
The speakers said the Muslim Ummah and entire Pakistani nation had been outraged by the US President’s move. They feared the disputed announcement would engulf the Middle East in fire. The speakers said Israel had illegally occupied Palestine but it was deplorable that the international community and the Muslim states were silent over it.
They said Al-Quds was the first Qibla (direction of prayers) of the Muslims and it was the duty of every Muslim to get it freed from the clutches of the Jews.
The speakers urged the leaders of the Islamic countries to sever diplomatic ties with the US.They urged the Pakistan government to play an active role by taking up this core issue at international and regional forums.
