ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif has expressed grief and sorrow over the assassination of renowned cardiologist and head of cardiology department of PIMS Professor Dr Shahid Nawaz Malik.
The professor struggled for life but couldn’t survive and died five days after his injury.While condemning the incident of violence in which the professor got injured in PIMS, the prime minister reiterated that steps must immediately be taken for providing better security to hospitals, schools and other public places so that such incidents could be avoided in future.
Prime Minister Nawaz has extended condolences to the bereaved family and his fellow doctors. He prayed that Allah the Almighty may bless the departed soul with eternal bliss.It would be pertinent to recall here that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif ordered for the best possible treatment to Professor Dr Shahid Nawaz Malik and asked for constitution of special medical board set up under Vice Chancellor/Chief Executive of the PIMS, Professor Dr Javed Akram.
The board kept on examining seriously injured Professor Malik who was shifted from the PIMS to CMH Rawalpindi.The prime minister had asked the Foreign Ministry for shifting him to London as per desire of the family.
The arrangements were almost finalised but the professor who saved lives of heart patients with his expertise couldn’t survive and passed away.The late doctor will be buried in his ancestral town Chakwal today (Saturday) at 3pm and earlier his funeral prayers will be offered at 9.30am adjacent to his House 92, Street 18, F/11-2 Islamabad.
