Physical activities

December 08, 2017
Many schools in Pakistan have brief exercise sessions during morning assemblies to keep children active throughout the day. They also have a PT period once a week. But schools are not making most of these activities. Educationists must know that our brain functions decrease if there is no physical activity after every half an hour. Therefore, it is necessary to involve students in some physical activity. For example, during English and Urdu classes, students can be asked to act out the story. In the same way, every day mathematics problems can be solved using examples. For example, the score of the class in a cricket match can be used for calculating players’ average score etc.
The hectic lifestyle of children doesn’t allow them to take part in any physical activity after school. It would be better if schools arranged such activities on their premises. Sitting still for hours has negative effects on children’s health. Through schools, students learn ways to improve their health. Children need to become more aware of their health to help make their future better. As the saying goes, a healthy life is a happy life.
