Drug addiction

December 08, 2017
Every person goes through a rebellious phase where he or she wants to break rules and do things in his or her own way. Many people take advantage of this temporary phase and lure these young minds to try dangerous things. This is how young people get trapped in the never-ending cycle of drug addiction. What is more astonishing is the fact that ‘the suppliers of drugs’ have now entered educational institutions as well. A person who enjoys his or her first encounter with drugs is more likely to take it again. Taking drugs has now become a fashion statement. This wrong labelling is another reason for the high number of students who are drug addicts.
It is time that the government took strict action to prevent the use of drug in education institutions. This plan must identify the specific drugs that students are using. It should build on existing resources such as existing drug abuse prevention programmes and it should also develop short-term goals that are relevant for the proper implementation of research-based drug abuse prevention programmes.
