Let’s talk about water

December 08, 2017
That the SC took action to resolve Sindh’s water crisis is good news which has given a ray of hope to citizens. The chief minister of Sindh, Murad Ali Shah, and the former mayor of Karachi, Mustafa Kamal, were given the opportunity of being heard and both of them highlighted the reasons behind the current crisis. Currently, the province is facing two major problems: contamination of water and shortage of water supply.
The report submitted to the SC pointed out that human waste is being deliberately released in water. It is distressing to learn that the provincial government hasn’t set up enough filter plants to treat water. As a result, many citizens are suffering from water-borne diseases. It is time the authorities took serious steps to resolve the problem.
