NAB chief urges filing pleas for early hearing of cases

ISLAMABAD: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Chairman, Justice (R) Javed Iqbal, on Wednesday directed the bureau officials to file applications for the early hearing of the cases.
He sought the details of as many as 499 inquiries 287 investigations and 1,138 under trial corruption references filed by NAB in the respective accountability courts.
He initiated the process of in-house accountability, while seeking complete details of Inquiries, Investigations and under trial corruption references filed in the respective accountability courts by NAB and sought report from the Operation and Prosecution Divisions of NAB.
The NAB chairman wanted to know that why these cases have not been concluded in 10 months prescribed time period as per NAB SOP and what action has been taken against the responsible officers on failure to conclude logically all under process cases within speculated time period as per law and have been sought about failure to inquire and investigate the cases.
Justice (R) Javed Iqbal directed the concerned NAB Divisions to file an application for early hearing of 1,138 under trial corruption reference so that over Rs900 billion looted money could be recovered from the corrupt, deposited in the national exchequer and the corrupt could be brought to justice as per law.
