MANSEHRA: The councillors of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) on Tuesday moved a no-confidence motion against own tehsil nazim and naib nazim with the support of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).
Zahid Aziz of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz and Mohammad Fayyaz of PTI moved the no-confidence motion against Tehsil Nazim Khurram Khan and Naib Nazim Mohsin Waqar, the nephew of Member National Assembly (MNA) Mohammad Safdar, who is the son-in-law of deposed prime minister Nawaz Sharif.
The no-confidence motion was moved during the session held with acting convener, Khalid Qureshi, in the chair.
December 11 was fixed for voting on the no-confidence motion against tehsil nazim and deputy nazim.
Zahid Aziz and Mohammad Fayyaz alleged that both the tehsil nazim and naib nazim had failed to come up to the expectations of the people.
“The tehsil government has miserably failed to address the issue of water, graveyards and sanitation in urban parts so they have no moral ground to remain in power,” Zahid Aziz said.
Tehsil Nazim Khurram Khan defended his government and said that he was working hard to address the issues. “We would defeat the no-confidence motion as we are being supported by the majority in the council,” he said.
Sources in the PML-N said that a forward bloc had been created in Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz that wanted to move a no-confidence motion against the tehsil nazim, but another group took the advantage of the situation and moved the no-confidence motion.
“Yes, there are differences among party councillors, but this has happened because of some misunderstanding that would be removed before the voting on the motion,” Zafar Mehmood, the PML-N’s district president told reporters.
The no-confidence motion against PML-N’s Tehsil Balakot Nazim Rustam and his deputy succeeded last month and election for the vacant slots would be held on December 14.
