Tahir double sends Muslim Trading Company into semis

KARACHI: International striker Mohamad Tahir hit a double to put Chaman’s Muslim Trading Company in the semi-finals when they defeated Pakistan Steel 2-0 in the second quarter-final of the First Naya Nazimabad Quaid-e-Azam Departmental Football tournament here at the KMC Stadium on Sunday.
Tahir struck in the 15th and 66th minute to seal a comfortable win for Chaman’s outfit who have a strong fan support in the 14-outfit event.“In the beginning, our players seemed in a hurry and dropped a few chances. Had we not squandered those opportunities we could have scored three to four goals in the first half,” Muslim Trading Company’s coach Khalid Nawaz told ‘The News’.
He said the team found rhythm and played some good football in the second half. He was confident that his side would continue to impress. Muslim Trading Company will now face in the semi-finals the winners of the quarter-final between Karachi Port Trust (KPT) and Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) which will be played on Tuesday (tomorrow).
In the first quarter-final on Saturday, Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) had crushed National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) 4-1.On Monday (today), former four-time Premier League champions Khan Research Laboratories (KRL) will take on Bahawalpur’s Ashraf Sugar Mills in the third quarter-final.
