KP rejects Ogra proposal to change gas tariff

PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has rejected a proposal by the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) to change gas tariff without rationale.
OGRA arranged a hearing on revision of the OGRA natural gas regulated third party access rules, 2012.
Chief Executive Officer (CEO of KPOGCL, Raziuddin Razi, spoke on behalf of KP the government and people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, said a press release.
The KPOGCL CEO stated that the authority (OGRA) always made decisions without prior approval and input should be taken from all stakeholders, especially the provincial government. The official intended that current composition of the OGRA had no representation from provinces, thus the decisions were flawed.
Moreover; he said, provinces were not consulted in the proposed tariff regime. The CEO said the same situation might yield lead to serious reservations and inefficient gas use.
He said provinces should have proper representation in the Working Group Third Party Access Rules 2017 and Tariff Regime.
He said the Third Party Access 2017 rules and gas transportation charges should be decided with provinces before taking the same to Council of Common Interests to save time, money and effort.
