KARACHI: Omar Associates were crowned champions when they defeated AO Clinic by 11 runs in the final of the first Dr MA Shah Women Cricket Tournament here at Asghar Ali Shah Stadium on Thursday. Omar Associates piled up 99-7 after opting to bat first.
Muneeba Ali top-scored with 38 in which she hit four fours. Huraina Sajjad (18) and Sana Taj (15) were the other prominent contributors. Kanwal Naz took 2-21. They restricted AO Clinic to 88-8. Ramin Shamim made 23, while Sabiha Zulfiqar belted 18.
Spinner Azra Yumna took 3-18, while Areeba Hanif bagged 2-17. The winners were handed over a purse of Rs50,000, while the runners-up received Rs25,000. Similarly, Rs5000 each was handed over to Kainat Imtiaz (best player) and Azra Yumna (best bowler and player of the final).
