‘Wheelchairs facility at Orange Train stations’

LAHORE: Dedicated facilities, including wheelchairs and other services, will be provided for the elderly and persons with special needs at all the stations of Lahore Orange Line Metro Train for their convenience.
Adviser to the chief minister and Chairman of the steering committee for Lahore Orange Line Metro Train Project (LOMTP) Khawaja Ahmad Hassaan observed this while chairing a weekly progress review meeting here on Wednesday.
He told that project had entered completion phase and all the 26 stations of the train were being completed as per international standards. More than 86 percent civil and 67 percent electrical and mechanical works have been completed at Islam Park station which was being prepared as model station for being used as a sample for completing the remaining stations.
He informed that pace of execution of work along Package-2 has also been accelerated. As many as 645 out of the 806 U-tub girders required for construction of elevated viaduct for the train at this section have been precast while 505 of such structures have so far been put into their places.
NESPAK General Manager Salman Hafeez informed the meeting that 77.8 percent of the civil works besides 30 percent electrical and mechanical work on Lahore Orange Line Metro Train Project has so far been completed. Progress on Package-I from Dera Gujran, GT Road to Chauburji was 87.3 percent, on Package-II from Chauburji to Ali Town was 62 percent, on Depot near Dera Gujran was 82.3 percent while on stabling yard near Ali Town it was 81.4 percent.
Chief Engineer LDA Asrar Saeed Khan, Manager Operations Punjab Mass Transit Authority, Chief Engineer Tepa, senior officials of Lesco, Wasa, PTCL, Sui gas, Traffic Police, Railways, Rescue 1122, Civil Defence, Chinese contractor, CR- NOROINCO, representatives of Chinese Engineering Consultant and local contractors of the project attended the meeting.
Land reclaimed: The Overseas Pakistanis Commission (OPC) Punjab has reclaimed land of an expatriate Pakistani worth Rs20 million. Afzaal Bhatti, OPC Punjab Chairman said this while chairing the weekly meeting here on Wednesday. DG Syed Javed Iqbal Bokhari, Additional DG Agha Yousuf, Directors Asad Naeem, Ishrat-ullah Niazi and senior officials attended the meeting.
Afzaal Bhatti said Muhammad Haneef, currently settled in Kuwait, lodged a complaint about illegal occupation of his land situated at Pasrur, Sialkot. His complaint was forwarded to the District Overseas Pakistanis Committee (DOPC) Sialkot. The officials of DOPC intervened and reclaimed the land.
